Who We Are and What We Are Fighting For
“Prosperity for Iran (Dolat Baraye Iran: DOBA)” is a civic and political group dedicated to advancing liberty and fostering change in Iran. We advocate for a transition from the Islamic Republic to a democracy grounded in fundamental rights and a society rooted in superior values derived from the bedrock principles of reason and morality. We firmly assert that this transformation is not only possible but also the only reasonable and inevitable path forward.
We believe that such a change requires peaceful, non-violent civil resistance by a diverse group of society members who accept their responsibility. This resistance represents a unified and ongoing effort against corruption, discrimination, and infringements on human rights.
We actively contribute to and promote the discourse of change in Iran. By raising awareness, presenting an alternative value system and governance structure, and fostering innovative platforms within civil society—as opposed to regime-centered initiatives—we aim to create a clear vision for our future and to empower effective civil resistance, particularly among the Iranian elite. We are resolute in our commitment to the emergence of a government and a society in Iran that respects and upholds fundamental rights.
Majid Zamani is the founder and director of Prosperity for Iran, a liberal advocacy group focused on advancing liberty and democratic governance in Iran. When he left Iran in 2022, he was CEO of Kian Financial Group, which he founded in 2016 with initial capital of USD 30 million under an advisory license. He subsequently transformed Kian into a fully fledged investment bank through a series of acquisitions and expanded it into a diversified financial holding company with 25 companies and funds, more than 360 professionals, and over USD 300 million in assets under management. Kian was listed on the Tehran Stock Exchange in 2021, just five years after its establishment.
Previously, Zamani served as the founding CEO of Kardan Investment Bank (2011–2016), which grew to approximately USD 1 billion in assets under management during his tenure and is also listed on the Tehran Stock Exchange.
He played a key role in the formation of Sarava, Iran’s first venture capital fund, and its early landmark investments, including Digikala and Cafe Bazaar. He also co-founded Homapay, a fintech company acquired by Digikala in 2018. Zamani advised the World Bank from 2006 to 2009 and has served on the board of the Sharif University Endowment Fund.
Over his career, he has founded more than 30 companies, overseen the launch of nearly 20 financial products, and played an active role in the growth, investment, and M&A of dozens of startups and major firms. He holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tehran (1996), an MBA from the University of Illinois at Chicago (2004), and a Master of Public Administration from Columbia University (2006).
